3rd World Cancer Day Race 2026 in Mexico City brings together 3,000 participants

The 3rd World Cancer Day Race was held in Mexico City, bringing together 3,000 athletes, survivors, and their families. The event on Paseo de la Reforma aims to raise awareness about the importance of prevention, diagnosis, and survival in oncology. The race was supported by leading pharmaceutical companies and served as a platform for social mobilization.


In the framework of World Cancer Day, the Cancer Warriors Foundation of Mexico held the 3rd World Cancer Day Race 2026, a sporting and community event held on Paseo de la Reforma Avenue that brought together 3,000 participants. The event brought together athletes, cancer survivors, patient families, institutional teams, and the general public, consolidating as a space to promote prevention, timely diagnosis, and the importance of survival in oncology. During the event, López Cuevas emphasized that the central objective of the race is to raise awareness about comprehensive cancer care. “This race has the main objective of sensitizing regarding the importance of treating, diagnosing, and, above all, achieving survival,” he expressed. In the men's 5 km absolute category, first place went to Uriel García Santiago, and in the 10 km category, to Carlos Eduardo Velasco Velasco. Among women, Perla Edith Cortés Cárdenas won the 5 km, and Erika Cuevas Mendoza won the 10 km. The 2026 edition was backed by allied companies and institutions, including Astellas, Boehringer Ingelheim, Merck, La Roche-Posay, Lapi Laboratorios, Johnson & Johnson, Ottobock, Abbott, and others. The 3rd World Cancer Day Race has consolidated as a platform for social mobilization, where sport served as a vehicle to highlight the relevance of prevention, early diagnosis, and the comprehensive accompaniment of people living with cancer in Mexico.
